Dan Kennedy is probably the greatest marketer period and one of the best copywriters. I’ve listened to many of his courses, but this is the first time I’ve read one of his books cover to cover and he definitely didn’t disappoint. I almost thought that because he has such high priced programs, there’s no way he would give value in a $10-$20 book, but it’s worth a 100x what i paid for it. Anyone that has a business or sells anything needs to read this book.

The book is all about practicality. I believe the strongest advise he has is to make swipe files. I created a sales letter from just the instructions but did not look at what others have done and it flopped. So, copy what works. Do not reinvent the wheel. He says the process is less creative and more formulaic. I would say stick to exactly what he says.

Love this book!! get it and get to work on your business copywriting....learn what realy matters in your business; it is not "being" a good "technician, or getting better at the services that you provide, or the operations that you run...it is bout learning the psychology of the people that you sell to and what attracts them!! THis book has helped my in my learning of sales copy, but more importantly it gets into the core principles of marketing. Great great and very helpful.

I read this book with the hope that Dan could help me improve the message that is driving my “bad plan” onward and upward. The information is really good!

While some information in this book is a bit dated and it was primarily focused on direct marketing, Dan Kennedy also shares timeless principles of writing sales letters that can be applied even today no matter what kind of sales letters you are writing.Getting to know your target audience will never become outdated, and the suggestions he shares from his past experience are quite thorough. He mentions that in order to get into the mind of his readers, in this instance dentists, he'd read every industry publication every month, visit websites that host discussions forums for dentists, subscribe to email groups where only dentists communicate back and forth, attend industry functions, conventions, seminars, trade shows, he'd play prospect, and routine mastermind with dentists.He then shares a step-by-step process he used to write a copy, very detailed with various examples. He shares a fill-in-the-blank headlines with examples, different ways to attract attention and to overcome barriers, how to re-write and then he offers an extensive check-list with 35 points to check your copy.Yes he does have a plug for his website and services which I find appropriate in this book, and he also has a plug for few other tools like mike Capuzzi's CopyDoodles.He then suggests re-writing for passion, and editing for clarity, and how to test your copy.At the end of the book you'll find additional resources.

Since pretty much anybody who is anybody in sales and marketing learned from Dan Kennedy, and since Dan Kennedy himself never stops learning and improving, it's fair to say that this is a guys whose every word is well worth hanging on.I've just started reading this book as I have a number of his other books to get through also, and right from the start he has over-delivered with an offer of a free 12-week sales letter writing email course. He then dives straight to the "meat" with 10 crucial questions to help home in on the exact angle that will get your mail opened and read.This book is a comprehensive "how to" manual, written entertainingly and in a way that really gets the lessons across and helps you to implement at the same time.

Yep, Dan is an information marketer, i.e. he wants to sell you the information he has compiled on selling information or becoming a direct marketer. There is no doubt that he is good at it. There is no doubt he can help the people and business that want to sell more. This is a great source for compiling a great, effective profit generating sales letter. It has been on my shelf since the second edition. When I couldn't find my old copy, I bought this third edition. Which, as far as I can remember, is actually better.The thing is you have to get past the fact that the book is a sales letter. As far as I am concerned it ought to be a sales letter, that's what the book is about. Right?!? Of course it is. So to those who would say this is not a good book because it gives his websites every few pages - Get Over It! The fact of the matter is that Dan Kennedy is a Direct Marketer / Information Marketer. This book is great illustration of how he he is successful at it. Read it, takes notes, write down your own thoughts and learn. As far as references to websites that are selling you high priced advice and information, look and learn. Besides this book has a light touch compared to his and other Direct Marketers. In this book he actually references a good deal of sites, books and information that is not his. He isn't profiting off of all of it.He starts with an excellent set of excersizes that help the writer: Identify the Customer,Identify the Real MarketIdentify What Their Best Interests are, etc.Then he guides you through the art of crafting your message in the subsequent chapters. I have used these approaches since I first read them 15 years ago and forgot where I had learned them until re-reading this edition.This is one of the better sales letter books and one of the best Dan Kennedy books. If you take it for what it is and what it's cover promises, it is a great book. persuasion

According to the authors, any information transferred over the Internet can easily be accessed by hackers, criminals and private businesses. (The hundredth window refers to the notion that if you lock 99 out of 100 windows, a thief will enter the 100th.) The book explains in detail how Web site marketers, service firms and recreational sites obtain and use consumer information. While future federal legislation may provide more protection, it is up to consumers to actively protect their personal data for now. According to the authors, the Web sites with the best privacy policies include Yahoo, Excite, IBM and Playboy, while sites such as J. Crew and Penthouse do little to reassure online visitors that their privacy is being protected. Jennings and Fena suggest looking for Web sites that prominently display their privacy policies and advise against posting full names in e-mail addresses. The title of the book comes from the world of security experts who point out that even if you have 99 bars on 100 windows, you're leaving yourself open for a security breach on that 100th window. The authors beseech readers to learn which of their windows are open into the readers' own personal privacy. They include tips and tricks that offer practical solutions in each chapter. And they go beyond discussing personal privacy and include calls for the need of beefed up data protection in businesses as well. Good, approachable book that nicely elevates the argument of how important it is to know when you're being watched and by whom and what to do about it.

The authors encourage users to give up too much personal information to "trusted" companies. Their position is that in the abscence of law it's best to simply trust capitalism to define and enforce whatever form of privacy prevails. This book is marketing speak meant to lessen privacy concerns of individuals so that companies have greater access to personal data to market/program consumers.

"The Hospital" is the first thing I've read from Keith C. Blackmore but won't be the last. This is an interesting short story about a survivor in a post-apocalyptic city. He has come down from his fortress looking for supplies. While checking the hospital when he has a run-in with a deranged survivor hiding in the hospital and finds himself in a frightening predicament.The main character was likeable and interesting and the story made me want to learn more about him. The pacing is fast and what he finds is graphic and horrific. I found the story interesting enough to get the first book of the series this ties into ("Mountain Man"). I hope to enjoy the book as well as the short story.

This short story was originally published in Blackmore's book of short stories Cauldron Gristle. I am rereading the story and will be rereading Mountain Man and Safari (Mountain Man Book 2) so I can go on to books three and four in the Mountain Man series - Hellifax (Mountain Man Book 3) and Well Fed (Mountain Man Book 4).I liked the books the first time I read them and this short story answers a couple of questions that pop up in MOUNTAIN MAN so I would suggest reading this story before you start the rest of the series.If you have a weak stomach, you probably should find another genre of books to read. This little gem is full of blood and guts and profanity.

It's graphic but the writing is poor. I'm shocked this got published and even more surprised it was released for Kindle. Very short so it doesn't take long to get through but you'll regret it when you're done lol. The premise was very interesting so if a better writer ran with it, it could be good. Matt Shaw from the white and black cover books (Sick B*stards, Rotting Dead F*cks, SickER B*stards etc) could do something great. His black cover stories are so good (and gross).

With zombies it seems all stories are all the same zombies are all trying to eat the humans and there is not much else involved with the story. Well I have found an author that left the part out that irritates me and wrote a story worthy of Stephen King if the master of horror wrote about zombies.The Hospital was offered as free on Audible. I have quickly gotten into audio books. As it allows me to work and listen to books. When starting this book I did not know it was about zombies. I quickly figured out it was but I was so engrossed in the story that did not matter. The story is not just about zombies it has action with a thriller and horror that will bring readers (or listeners) to the edge of their seat.I do not know who the narrator was but I really enjoyed the roughness I felt in his voice. The thrill that he projected in my mind throughout the whole story I did not just hear or read the book I lived it.I highly recommend this book to any who enjoy a good horror.The bunnies and I give this book 4 carrots.

Keith Blackmore has certainly captured the end of the world apocalyptic feeling in The Hospital. I was shocked and Eager at the same time to learn of Alice and what she does, what happens to her. To create a character with such a twisted mind and write it so enticingly, makes me yearn to know a little more about her, how she ended up in her frame of mind. Although it is a hospital.... of Insane? Perhaps there should be another book in the sequel....In a day where I am hearing and seeing, reading more and more of the age of zombies, and a rebirth in death so to speak, this book captured my attention and wasn't released until i finished every single page. For my friends that are into this story line I will definitely recommend The Hospital.

You know how much I love audiobooks, right? They're an auditory delight, allowing me to multi-task as I enjoy, whatever it is that I wanna enjoy! This story allowed just that. This book was a fun story to listen to and visualize. It's a small piece of a book whole, I believe. I haven't purchased the other books yet, but you know, I think I will. The Hospital: The First Mountain Man Story by Keith C. Blackmore is about lonely Gus, an apocalyptic survivor. He's lost tons of weight, has established survival rules gleaned from horror movies, which he follows to a "T" even under terrifying conditions. It's a short story but enough of a sample that I need to read the book in its entirety. I forced myself to listen to the whole thing just to see if it changed. Sigh...that was a waste of time. Overdone descriptions. I am also put off by the current obsession with zombies and find the unrealistic and short-sighted perspective of post apocalyptic literature uniformly lacking in true depth and breadth. If you are that depressed, get some help, and I don't mean meds.

Didn't use this book much as it was not too the point and the sample questions at the end of each chapter were difficult and confusing with not much relation to the book examples.

Content gets 5 stars. Binding gets 1 star. A book this big should not be paperback and shouldn't split (with pages falling out) before I'm even done with the class for which I bought it!

Purchased for my PhD programs. Great read.

the book look like the old book and the cut-line of book is mis-aligned

I actually can't believe they are selling the book as is. The alignment of the printing is awful! The cover is not only crooked, but the title is cut off both on the front cover and back cover. All the left-hand pages have a huge margin on the outside and tiny margin on the inside, making them difficult to read. For such an expensive textbook, you would think it might go through some kind of quality control process. Shame on Amazon for selling such a poor quality product.

The definitive work on laser engineering. A good reference for all things laser. It's also a pretty good read, for a textbook. A copy of this probably belongs on the bookshelf of anybody in the laser/photonics field. There are many errors in it, for example the Einstein A coefficient listed for the Ne laser transition, so numbers should be double checked against other references.

This is a *terrible* copy of a very useful optics book for way too much money (USD 160). For this price, one can expect high quality print at least! The binding is bad and torn, the pages are clearly bad photocopy of the original, the paper is cheap, and the cover is cut off from the original (the L in the title is cut off at the top).Go and buy a used hardcover copy for half the price.

I wrote a long review of this book over at Catholic World Report from which I am drawing this review."Archbishop Bugnini, was the Italian Vincentian who served as the influential secretary of the Consilium ad exsequendam Constiutionem de Sacra Liturgia (the Committee for the Implementation of the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy). Chiron’s work is both a biography of Bugnini and a succinct overview of the Consilium’s work in implementing and imposing the liturgical reform that gave us the Novus Ordo and the current Liturgy of the Hours.Chiron’s work is equal parts impressive and depressing. It is impressive because Chiron avoids both polarizing starting points and conclusions, shows a great command of the primary sources, and in under 200 pages gives a succinct overview of the Consilium’s work. Chiron’s biography is a sober, objective, and well-researched account. His Bugnini is no bogeyman.It is depressing because the book gives an unvarnished window into the political machinations, processes, and frequent failings behind the liturgical reform. In reading Chiron’s book, one understands at a deep level Joseph Ratzinger’s trenchant but charitable critiques of the post-Vatican II liturgical reform."Buy this book so you know how we got here and how we can avoid making these mistakes again and restore the great liturgy of the Church.

This book achieves a wonderful balance between biography and history, which allows the reader to view Bugnini both as a person and in his historical context as part of the liturgical movement. It starts with a good overview of the early liturgical movement and ends with the chaos and iconoclastic madness of the 60s and 70s, culminating with Bugnini's banishment to Iran. Well organized and easy to read, this short book is packed with information about Bugnini and many other well-known characters from Vatican II and the liturgical movement. It does a good job tracing the origins of the liturgical tinkering that exploded after Vatican II to Pius X, and one is left with the impression that perhaps this is the crack from which the smoke of Satan entered temple of God. Pius XII's liturgical shortcoming are also laid bare. This may be difficult for some to accept, but the author makes a fairly compelling case.For lovers of the Ancient Rite, this book can be difficult to read at times. There are detailed descriptions of these conceited men savaging the most precious treasures of the Church. I imagine I would feel the same way if I were to witness someone destroy the Pietà with an angle grinder while proclaiming he was improving the statue. The book shows how quickly things spiralled out of control. The author seems to suggest the blame rests primarily with Paul VI, as he was probably in the best position to stop everything.The book is concise, and the tone is measured and avoids the polemics found in many other books on the subject. This is a great book that shows how we got where we are today.The only criticism I have is the author's rather myopic claim that the text of Sacrosanctum Concilium "wants Latin to remain the liturgical language." (p. 93). SC n. 36 2-4 plainly allows for virtually unlimited use of the vernacular subject only to the limits of the "competent territorial ecclesiastical authority . . . [and] confirmed, by the Apostolic See." It's time to recognize and acknowledge these documents are seriously flawed and contain far too many ambiguities and loopholes. The book would benefit from a less selective reading of Sacrosanctum Concilium.

If you are interested in Vatican II this is a must read whether if you are a Religious or Laity.Many names are listed which are necessary from a historical point, but what is revealing in this book is the process that gave us Vatican II.The original intentions of the many, many committees were to bring the Mass "alive" and closer to the time of Justin Martyr, especially to the parishioners who were uneducated. Unfortunately once the barn door is open for reform, the people involved think that their particular cause or horse in the race, is now paramount. So in their minds, if something is mentioned in discussion, that means it must need reform.It was never the Pope's intention for what was to become a run away stampede of reform. Many Religious took unbridled license were no license was given.Please read Forward and Author's Preface to get full picture.

I really don't know what all the buzz is about with this book. It is dry and the author really paints a boring, middle-of-the-road picture of a larger than life figure. I understand the need for balance with a topic that is very incendiary. But I thought that this was a pretty thin treatment of Bugnini. There is nothing here that students of 20th century liturgical reform don't already know. Furthermore, it failed to clarify what eveyone really wants to know -- why, ultimately, was he exiled to Iran?

I first heard of this book on the blog, “The New Liturgical Movement.” It’s well written and gives a fair perspective into Bugnini and some of the goings on behind the scenes of why the liturgy is shaped in the Novus Ordo as it is. It may be controversial, but it’s one of the few books out there that speak about this. It will be discussed well into the future and should be read by all, whether one favors the Traditional Latin Mass or the Novus Ordo.

I was an absolute beginner when I purchased this book. I have made four tapestry wall hangings and my loom is "warped up" for a fourth. Excellent, easy to follow instructions. Charts, and photos make everything so easy.

Totally love this book. Techniques are taught first. Then the author gives directions to weave attractive wall hangings and other projects. Lots of color pictures match the directions. Great book.

I wish I had gotten these in book form, I tried to but couldn't get through. Got them in my kindle, no color and not large enough.

I found this book pretty disappointing, the first part was not very well presented and the projects where very similar to each other. I am a weaver and I also do tapestry weaving and was looking for some progressives ideas into modern projects. Will return the book.

Item arrived way above expected/quoted time frame in as new condition. The content was amazing with clear concise instructions and pictures as well as diagrams to aid in projects. All projects were colorful but not tacky, useful and/or decorative. I highly recommend this to any weavers looking to expand their library or to any beginning weaver looking to begin.
