One of the better horse coloring books. Lovely original drawings with an assortment of poses. Real personality comes through in the illustrations. Amanda has a distinctive style and portrays the horses in a unique way; who else would think to depict a horse in a lily pond, a cute foal checking out the hay bales, a horse looking out from a rose hedge or one frolicking through a poppy field. Most of the horses are wild & free, which I much prefer; a few show saddle or bridle. All pages are duplicated in a smaller size at the back of the book for practice or to re-color differently. Some drawings not 100% correct conformation wise but only noticeable to an equiphile. Also have Amanda's Fascinating World of Horses and Doodle Animals which are well done too.
This is a fantastic set of horse designs by Amanda Neel. I have previously purchased her “Lovely Cats†coloring book and have been enjoying coloring in that book. This book is just as lovely and has an added advantage of having the designs in the standard size as well as a smaller 5 x 7 inches as well. That way, you can use the smaller design to test colors or simply to have another copy of the design in a smaller format to color or to share.The horses in the book are set in a variety of settings – from barn and ranch scenes to wilderness ones as well. The artist has included a nice level of detail without over-drawing the design and taking away coloring choices from the colorist.The designs are printed on thin white non-perforated paper which is typical of CreateSpace publications. The paper is medium weight and the binding of this book is glued rather than sewn or stapled. There is plenty of room to cut the page out if you wish though you will need to be a little careful in cutting out the 5 x 7 designs. All designs stop well before the margin. The artist has placed a framing line around each design which helps me tremendously as a colorist. It gives me a natural stopping point which saves me time and ink. It also gives my finished page a much more polished look.Coloring pencils work well on this paper but all markers and gel pens bleed through. Not a problem – I am now using a piece of chipboard under my work to keep ink from leaking through to ruin the design below. You can use heavyweight paper or card stock but be sure to check to see how many layers you need to keep it from leaking through. The reason I like chipboard is it can be reused over and over again and is available at office supply stores or on-line.I received a free sample of this coloring book for test and review purposes.
wow! What a pretty book! Very nice pictures. Most pictures are in natural settings, a few with saddles, or fencing, no humans ;) Cant wait to start coloring this. I originally wanted to use crayons as I love crayon coloring, but some of these will require a smaller point like colored pencils, so may try combining both and see how that looks.
I just love this book! The paper quality is so-so but the pages are one sided so I would recommend putting something between the pages as you color. I do this anyway so I can test colors so it's not a part. It also include smaller versions of each picture so you can try out colors on a page before moving on to the larger picture. My only complaint about this book is that the pages are not perforated. But it's not really a deal breaker. I would buy this again in a heart beat.
I actually purchased this for my niece that loves horses! She is 10! The pictures in this coloring book are really good quality, and the horses look pretty realistic! I'm 29 and even I would color in this if I had one for myself haha! The book arrived in perfect condition (I was worried about this since it's a soft back book). Many pictures to color, but I wish there were about 20 more pages for the price, but it's about the size of a typical coloring book. Overall, I'm happy with this, and I think this would be perfect for people of all ages really!
Hate to give this to the 9 year old boy for Christmas, cause I want to do it myself. Coloring for boys is difficult to find, but glad to find this one.
This is a fun coloring book for kids and adults. There are small copies of every drawing in the back so you can test colors, which is nice. The only downside is that the paper feels slightly waxy, so the crayons I've used end up making the picture look "chunky" instead of smooth. Maybe colored pencils would work better? Either way, it's a nice book.
This Coloring book exceeds my expectations 100% so many beautiful pages. My daughter is going to LOVE THIS!!
Gave this to the mother of of the girl I gave a pony coloring book to. The little girl likes to color in this one sometimes, but "is real careful to stay inside the lines".It looked to me like a nice balance of not too baby-ish, but not overly difficult either.
